I applaud your work and will be happy to volunteer when we are back in Florida after Christmas.  We have a small ranch in Montana NW of Missoula.  We have 6 horses and our ranch manager keeps 3 of his own while he is training.  He is teaching me how to train, so maybe I could be of some assistance to you.  But I can groom too and love to do that.  Keep in touch, as I will.
Sincerely,

Kathie Gamble

How sad is it when you see one of God's creatures in that kind of shape? Heart wrenching to say the least. However, there is hope for this beautiful girl. Once you get her out of pain, and on a good diet, she will spring back.    Yes, one at a time does make a difference. It shouts out to this girl HOPE, HELP, and STRENGTH. Once you get her up and going she will be able to stand proud with her head up as if to say "Look at me! I am proud! I am of Value, and I have Worth and Diginity!" You are AWESOME to me and I so admire you and what you do! If these kids could talk, they would have you (and many others) in tears, on a daily basis.
Compared to what he looked like when you first got him, Ghost looks great now! Keep up the awesome work! I admire you for sacrificing your dreams and wants, just to be able to save them from suffering. It is so hard to save them, build them back up (in spirit and body), and then see them leave to go to a new forever home. It is truly an addiction of the heart that is bittersweet. Your heart is ripped out of your chest when you first see them, then you nurture them and work with them until they bloom into a beautiful creature, then your heart is ripped out again when they are adopted. However, you know you must let them go so that you have room to save more. The hardest thing is to have to turn one away for lack of a place to put them.
Arnette, Levy County Animal Shelter

Dear Devon,

We are so grateful for your compassion and for everything that you are doing to help animals.

Devon is one special girl on this planet.....Her love and devotion to animals is a real inspiration.

Thank you Devon for taking care of those who cannot take care of themselves and are at the mercy of the human race.

Hey,

Ghost updated .....WOW!

"Our treatment of animals will someday be considered barbarous. There cannot be a peaceful civilization until man realizes that the rights of every living creature are as sacred as his own.  Never doubt that a small group of concerned citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

- Buddha Siddhartha Gautama

Well done Devon!

Wow, Devon, I am really impressed with what you are doing.  It is so depressing knowing what some of these animals go through, isn't it? Thank you for sharing your story with me. Is it o.k. if I share it with a couple of people from FANI? Gigi, PMU Foundation

Devon,
            What a tear jerker.

When i saw the pics of Ghost and the other babies you have taken in and helped and are helping, and know the decision, and sacrifices you have made i am truly moved. It really is a heart moving moment to hear that a voiceless creature of God is now in good hands and regardless of the sacrifices we make, we are so moved in our hearts to be a part of the daily change for the better these animals are making. Its such a joy to know their are people in the world like you. Thanks from the voiceless animals. Debbie, United Humanitarians, Central Florida

Dear Devon,

Wow! Thank you for all you are doing to help PMU horses. If you like, you can share your horses’ stories on our message board and meet PMU adopters:

Dear Devon, I saw Ghost's video and I was so moved i wanted to get in my car and drive to your farm and help. Its so heart moving. What you are doing is a life saving work, and you are so blessed. I am extremely impressed. I was moved to tears and thoughts of what can i do to help. Ghost's video speaks volumes. Thanks For Sharing It With Me       Thanks Debbie

Thanks again Devon, you are the greatest! Love, Anne (The capacity to care gives life its deepest significance. Pablo Casals)

wow that story made me almost cry about your horse,  i hope you find a great home for her i would take her if i had enough room i have 3 horses and that is just to much right now with gas prices but the best of luck to you and Diva .

...we will be anxious to meet you in person, you are such a beautiful, and nurturing  individual, you are certainly one of God's best masterpieces.

Devon, I was so moved by Ghost's first video....It made me cry and haunted me for days.
I was so happy to see him back to his full glory in the new one. What a boy!

Nothing like a tail to tell you how good an animal feels.

I hope you don't mind, but I sent links to those videos before and after to a
private section of a forum of about 25,000 members around the world. No private
info given out, just the videos and a short explanation of what you have
accomplished with this horse.

I don't know that anything will become of it, but I think Horses in Harmony will
get a few hits from the post.

How I wish I could adopt that boy..... Aimee, Altamonte Springs, FL

I am really so happy to hear the news of Trooper. Please tell Laura that I also am so happy for her getting that lovely horse. I too wish them all the very best for a long and happy life together. I suppose I will never forget the horrific pictures I saw of Trooper on arrival at Horses in Harmony, and the depressing thought of him not surviving his ordeal, then as you and your Team progressed with him he once again became the lovely horse he once was before some 'low life' abandoned him, and now it seems he has landed with his 'butt in butter'. ...... I'm still looking at your site! I love the pictures! What a great story about Diva, too! I'm sure God is so happy that you are taking such great care of his animals. I, too, have a 4-year old rescue that was neglected and needs lots of extras, and I don't ride him. He has been though enough so I just get my happiness from watching him run and play with my 2-year old filly.

I'm so glad you do what you do, and I'm sure Trooper will find a superb home! You can tell by his kind eyes that he is so happy and thankful!

I will have to visit your place sometime, it sounds great! If I was a little younger and didn't have my place (and no bills : - )), I would love to work at a place like yours; the barn manager position sounds like a dream job!

Thanks for everything you do for these rescues!

Regards,
Kerry

I am so relieved the foals are with you getting the proper start in life. Hopefully it won't be too long before they are all three gentle and easy to handle.

Bless you for being such a wonderful foster mom :-)

I looked at your Sundance's  video and she is a credit to you - went beautifully for such a young mare and I think she will really be something when her education continues.  I think she will be very successful in whatever career path is chosen for her. Very best of luck in placing her. Regards

You do wonderful work with the animals, and the ones on the website are so lucky you have stepped in.  Thank you again.  SYLVIA

I stopped by on Wed. and Madison looked AWESOME!!! She didn't even seem to care that I was there, which was kinda healing for me.  Thank you soooo much for taking such great care of her and helping her find a new home with Hali.  Hopefully everything will work out, and Madison will adjust to snow!! If you get any updates, please forward them to me if you don't mind.  You are such a special person for doing what you do, and it is rare to find someone with such a big heart like you have.  Your PMU's are absolutley adorable, I hope they are feeling better, they looked like they had the sniffles.  I hope we will meet again, and maybe one day when I am able, I will be able to help another horse in need, and provide a forever home.

Once again you and your team have worked a miracle - What a beautiful Horse Trooper is and looking Sooooooooo Good. Congratulations to you all for your hard work, inspiration and love for Trooper. If I was rich I would have him, just to remind me of what devoted people can achieve. I hope he goes to a good home.

"D"

Trooper looks so much better.  I wish I could provide him a home :(  He is so lucky to have you, your staff, and your students to love him and cherish him like he should be.

Devon, you and your staff do such wonderful things by rescuing horses.  Myself, and the horse community are ever so grateful of the rescuing that you and everyone at Harmony do.

I'm sorry to bother you with this, since I'm not looking to adopt right now...I have just recently rescued a mastiff from a kill shelter. I just wanted to say that you guys seem like the coolest folks. I'm am so touched that you went out of your way to rescue all those dogs. I wish you the best and hope that you find a family for Maddy. Keep up the great work and never stop...bless you, Candy

I just wanted to say that you are a wonderful person.  I live in a townhouse and have 2 cats, so I’m not in a situation to adopt a dog, but it warms my heart to know that there are still good people left in this world.   Best of luck placing the dogs – and God bless you!   You are an angel.

Thanks Devon J

Hello Devon,

Thank you so much for sharing your "lucky" find of Trooper and bringing him HOME!  I truly believe that the Lord places us where we need to be, not just for us but for the others who need us at that time.  Trooper has been blessed and I too can hardly wait to see Team Harmony in action again!

Also, I have forwarded your other email with the all of the "Lucky" dogs to everyone I know and then some.  Networking is wonderful and wouldn't it be even better if they all had homes by the end of the week!

Take care, keep up the good work!
Hugs,
Lauren & Super

Hey D,

There is no mystery greater than the depth of a woman's heart.  This seems to be especially true in your case.  So proud of you I could burst!

Love,
Shawn

I would like to say although I presently cannot take on anymore babies. As we have a very small living space with two adult humans and three very active children, one really fat dog, one skinny cat and another fat one, and two parrots we don’t have the space inside or the funds to support any more dogs.

We will however do what we can to find homes for these animals.

May God bless you in all ways!

Jake

Wow--awesome!!  They ARE beautiful--not at all what you'd think would be on "death row".

The videos are brilliant--the bigger dogs may seem a little intimiding, but the video shows that they are big Mushes!

Well done!

Laura

I can tell right now that you don't play fair!!! What a beautiful video! He is so happy and walks so proud! I'll never be able to tell you enough how much you mean to us. (Don't worry, I won't kiss you like Jackson did!)  :0)  I can hardly wait to see the rest of them.
Thank You So Much,    Net :0)

Hi Devon,

I just was thinking about you and all of the good you do for animals and people and was wondering if there is anything I can do for you? Is there anything that you might need for your horse rescue that I could provide as a thank you from Trooper and I ? I could even donate some time to clean stalls for you anything you might need. You really are a special person and just saying thank you does not seem like enough. Please if you need anything just let me know.

Thanks again!!

Dear Devon, I wanted to send you a note and tell you how much we absolutely LOVE our baby boy Jackson. We all agree that it seems as though he has been a part of our family forever.  He has been on vacation to the mountains and the beach in the last year.  We will be celebrating what we will call his 3rd birthday on Sept 21 which will be a year from the date we adopted him from you.  Thank you for all that you do.  I am certain many families have had their lives enhanced because of you.

You may not recall but I was referred to your website by Carl and Letty R.  the new owners of Dakota.  He is doing great by the way.
I  truly respect the fact that you are honest about your horses.  That's what Carl and Letty(Dakota) said about you and why they felt I should keep checking out your site.  It is always so refreshing to know there are people like you left in the world.  To truly care that "your horses likes the people!!!" just confirms to me again what a sensitive and compassionate person you are.
Thanks for all the wonderful work you to help the horses.

Hey Devon,  I just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know how great Patches did on his first trail ride here! Laurel rode him out and we thought we would just go around the block, but he did so well we went all throught the trails and the little path in the woods and he did great! He even lead with my horses that didn't want to pass the garbage can.  went by the dogs, through water and everything great. He really is turning out to be exactly the type of horse we were looking for.

I just thought you should know!

Email from Angie Stockman dated 6 January 2008:

I wanted to tell you that when you were getting on Ox and I was leaving, all the girls you gave lessons to were talking and raving about how much they loved dressage.  The 1st girl (Carlie, on Sir) was saying "I thought I was going to hate the lesson today and was dreading it, but when I got up on Sir and Devon was explaining everything, I realized that it might be kind of fun.  And then she was such a GREAT teacher I LOVED it!  I'm so excited about learning dressage now!  I was trying it on the other horse today after the lesson.  I loved riding Sir so much, he is such an amazing horse!"  And the two other girls were saying "Yeah I really loved it as well, Devon was great, she really helped me understand what I was doing."
So - there you go!!
Now I'm going to be beating off other students with a stick just to get a few minutes of lesson from you!  ;)

Just wanted to thank you for my awesome lesson!  I was very sore that night, but only a little sore the next day.  I got to practice on my horse the next day and lo and behold, I got her to step over in the turns.  Now, she didn't do it right every time, nor did I, but when I got it right, so did she!!  Can't wait for my next lesson.  Will try to do my next one week after next and I'll drop you an email to schedule it.  Thanks again.

I really enjoyed the lesson on Saturday, and I had a great ride on my mare that day too, applying everything I learned. I was pretty amazed that she was able to do a perfectly round 20m circle just by my vision aid!!

From Student:  Renee

I would love to participate in your next clinic and The Halloween Event sounds like sooooo much fun. I'm already thinking about ideas. FUN FUN FUN.
You're the best Devon. We can't wait to get the boys over to you.

What a transformation, Ghost is a beautiful horse now, but the earlier part of the video is so distressing. Is there nothing one can do against the ex owner, who herself should be shot and buried in an unmarked grave. Especially considering that the USA and Cowboys with wonderful horses are like a 'signature tune' to the rest of the world. Please pass on my admiration to Ghost's Momma, who has obviously worked so hard to rehabilitate that beautiful horse. Well done on the wonderful hard work, it must be so gratifying to see Ghost now, head held high and looking so majestic.

OH My Gosh!!! What a great day. I really want to thank you for creating the video, Devon. It is so helpful to actually see and hear the lesson again. I'm sure I will have watched it a dozen more times before next Tuesday but it really helps to clarify what you are saying and how my position looks. Thank you for your help. Have a wonderful weekend. Thanks again for taking the time to ride Deliaha and providing pointers on how to handle her, I really appreciated that a lot.

Email from C.M  dated 12 November 2008:

Thanks Devon!! I'm glad she was so good today!! I rode her last night and was also surprised how straight she was to the right, especially after Sunday's issues. She was a little fast at the canter, but whenever she got quick I did a 15m circle which seemed to remedy the problem. It's just a little challenging that she's so inconsistent with everything, like riding a new horse every time :)

I think everything is perfect :) Thank you so much for everything, you are amazing :)

I love that you think outside of the box. I also wanted to let you know that we spoke with our ex-trainer and explained that we are thrilled with our horse's current training and that he is going better then ever...I feel so good about so many things regarding the horses. You have made Horses in Harmony such a wonderful place for all of us!!!! Devon, you are the kindest person I have ever had the fortune of knowing. Selfless in so many ways. Thank you for sharing --- I can't wait to see how this all works out because I know the journey is going to be fantastic. Thanks for everything always... you are a true professional and we are so grateful for you and your experience.  Renee

Thanks again for an awesome lesson!  I am really excited to be working toward better communication with Jazz and although I didn't think we could have a better relationship, I now know that it's going to be even better!!  I absolutely love your teaching style and kind of equate it to the "Zen of Dressage".  The calmness and logic of it all is so refreshing from the past trainers I have worked with.  I know that's why I stopped lessons in the past...because I felt like I was "doing something" to Jazz...now I feel like I'm doing something "with" her and it will better us both.  Yay!

I am on cloud nine, feeling great and thank you. Videos are awesome!! Thanks for sending them. Hard not to get emotional when watching them.
I look forward to my next lesson. Hope I can learn to hold the correct leg and heel down without coming out of stirrup I have the best teacher
so I can finally overcome that, it has been an obstacle for me. Thank you again! Cammie, New Smyrna Beach

Email from Danielle  dated 17 January 2009:

I like the way you communicate to your students, telling them how and why they are doing something not just telling them to do it. I will definitely get back to you in March about starting lessons.
Thanks-Danielle

Email from Tatiana  dated 28 January 2009:

Hi Devon,

I find it sooo awesome your nightly email updates on her training progress!!! :o)
The farrier came today for Holly... I told him all about you and and said if anybody ever asks him about a trainer that I HIGHLY  recommend you.
Then in the afternoon my vet stopped by because she had forgotten the sedatives when she had done Holly's teeth float...
I told her all about you she was sooo impressed !!! Then one of the boarders heard and all had their jaws dropped over what I was telling them...
I couldn't be more pleased with your way of handling things...

The video was great!!!
Thanks so much we really enjoyed it !!
Arthur kept saying on how he was impressed you got the horse to learn with no whip or force... Great job !!
It was lots of fun this past Saturday...

Thanks, Tati

Email from Karen B.  dated 28 January 2009:

Thank you so much...  I was kind of smiling all day just thinking of my lesson!!  : )  No...not "kind of"  I was !!!  Yay!!    I was telling everyone how great she did...it really was amazing!  I have to remember that not all days will go like that though...but I seriously felt we made a major breakthrough!  I really would like to work towards doing a show, although I know it will certainly be some work, but if you feel she has any potential I would love to do it!  I think once we get to your barn we can really get into some serious progress.

Thanks again for an amazing lesson...what a confidence booster for both me and Jazz!  : )

Hi Devon

I just wanted to thank you for your wonderfully inspiring lessons today. I felt some big breakthroughs and can’t even express how grateful I am. I really enjoyed riding Sir and felt more connected on him today then I think I’ve ever felt on any horse. Your depth of knowledge continually impresses me and I am so excited to move forward.

PS- I get so excited after riding Sir. I feel like I’m walking on clouds. Such a great horse. Thank you for sharing him. You guys are the best teachers. I can never really express completely how grateful I am!!!!!

Devon,

I will certainly be sending photos and keeping in touch.

You all were very nice to us and I think what you are doing for these horses is amazing!  I’m sure it doesn’t come without a lot of heart break and it’s probably fulfilling to see a little girl’s dream of a pony come true.  To tell you the truth, your website is AWESOME!  I’ve looked at quite a few ponies, and a picture is OK, but video’s and bio’s of the horses-good or bad, just brings them to life in your mind.  He caught my eye when I saw the video and you are doing great things for these horses!!

Thank you so much again, and we will keep in touch.  He will be our little sweetie!

Take Care…Nicole Freed

Devon, How wonderful it is to come home to something like that, you are truly amazing. I became tearful.
You are probably one of the few people in the world that truly can speak "equine" it must be nice to speak to their souls. I hope to learn some of that from you and hope to
keep him there as long as possible as he is learning. I am still in awe. Thank you so much I can not even tell you
I sit here in awe....still

Hi Devon,

Thanks for this wonderful virtual lesson, I enjoyed every bit of it and will watch it a few more times. It’s extremely helpful to hear your comments on all the many aids you are giving.

Keep on doing all the wonderful things you do.

Look forward to seeing you again,

Regina

I would love to leave my horse with you  a little longer and see what we can get from her with your techniques. I really enjoy the entire atmosphere there as compared to my barn. It is much more about the horses and their wants and needs. It is actually fun to ride. I can also tell that my horse is much happier with the turnout schedule there too.

I'm so looking forward to seeing my happy baby.  She is so incredibly content there...I know it's because of the environment of love, calmness and tranquility.  I feel the same way when I am there...so even though the road to get to the place where we are now was at times a bit rocky..it was worth the travel!!  These are the journey's that shape us, and difficult as they are I always look back on my most trying times and realize those are the experiences that inspired the most positive change and growth.  Thanks for being such an inspriring person and a great friend.

Hi Devon,

I don't even know how to thank you for today!!
Thanks--Thanks--Thanks--
I felt so good to see she remembered everything... it was a bit embarrassing I wish she had acted the way she does with us...
But it was so good to see her behaving at that barn, it gave me hope she will be Ok... It was also good to see you work so now
I have a better idea how to do it... Today was great...
Roxanne ( the lady that came to see it) was very impressed, she does dressage with her horse...
She is very interested in having a session with you next time you come, so I told her I'd ask you...She said she can take the time off of work and be there
I'm looking forward to the video... can't wait to show Arthur... he is really excited to see it also...
Again, many many Thanks for all your help, we are truly appreciative,

FYI: Jazzy was a STAR today!  Even the most curmudgeonly of judges would have been wowed! : ) We had such a great ride-our transition to canter was the best its ever been. So, I know what you're thinking...the same thing I am thinking...what did the rider do differently---cause that horse obviously knows
what she's doing! Well, I gave rein on the inside-sat way back firmly in the saddle and made a conscious effort NOT to hang on the reins. Hmmm seemed to
work!  : ) guess I was more focused but relaxed today. Also Jazz is more of a morning girl than late afternoon. : ) !! Just wanted to tell someone who could appreciate it! Have a great day! K

Thanks for the great lesson today. It was so exciting and deeply gratifying to feel the beginnings of that canter again. I give you credit, Devon, because you never give-up. You’ll never know how much that has meant to me!!!!

I just want to tell you how much all your help means to me.  I could not have done this without your support! You are a very kind and special person!. I am looking forward to working with you on Lenzen and what ever other horse I end up with.  Thanks for the lesson today.  I really like the way you show me how to use the reins.  I have been told to hold the outside in left lead canter
before but today I could really see and feel how to do it and make a difference. That's big!
  Many blessings to you,  L
